Kris is 6 months old!

Oh my little monkey is 6 months old! I know it's cliche to say, but the months go by fast while the days inch by so so slowly.

Everyday gets better with Kris. She does new things, she seems to know love better, and she becomes happier and happier everyday. Greg and I are amazed by her. Most nights after she is in bed we want to go pick her up to cuddle with her, and we spend a lot of time talking about how sweet she is. I have always known I wanted to be a mother, but this is better than I could ever imagine.

Six months also means she gets real food! Up until yesterday, Kris had only had breast milk. We have had a very difficult breastfeeding journey, so I am so proud to say that we are still going strong. We are introducing solids in Baby Led Weaning fashion. Basically the point of this is that you allow the baby to eat as much or as little as they'd like to. You don't spoon feed purees, you just give them slices of soft foods to play with. You can place a spoon and fork in front of them, and as they watch other people eat, they will learn what to do with utensils. I have been very excited to try this.

We started Kris out with Avocado. It maybe wasn't the best choice as it was super slippery! She would grab a piece, start moving it to her mouth, and then it would slide out. We are going to do crinkle cut carrots next.

She didn't really care for the avocado. She would make a face anytime it got into her mouth. It was a fun experience though, and we will try avocado again tonight.

Because it was so slippery, she wasn't tasting much of the avocado, so we did spoon feed a chunk to her before handing her the spoon to do it herself. This won't be a typical way of feeding her, but it was fun to know she got a bit in her mouth.

Likes:

  • Hugs! She loves to wrap her arms around our necks and bury her face into our chests.
  •  Watching mommy cook.
  • Going on runs. We recently got a jogging stroller and this girl loves it! She loves the wind in her face and looking around.
  • Going outside. Sometimes if she is really upset we take her outside and she is instantly calm.
  • Reading. I hope this one sticks. She loves book time.
  • Singing
  • When daddy or grandma scares her by saying 'boo' in her face. This will make her laugh so hard!

Dislikes: (not many, she is easy to please)
  • Wet Diapers and Diaper changes.
  • Bedtime. This girl fights bedtime so bad!
  • Being set down. We are trying to work on the 'play by yourself' thing. She isn't having it. She wants mommy and daddy on the floor with her.
New things this month:
  • Sitting up longer and longer. She gets wobbly after a while, but she is doing great.
  • She has pulled herself up to stand 3 times!
  • You know that thing where you blow your lips and they vibrate and make a noise? She has that down. Then, she realized that if she sticks her tongue out, she can do it and spit will come out too! She will do this all day everyday. Spit everywhere!
